US Department of health & human services

The Department of Health & Human Services (HHS)’s mission is to “enhance and protect the health and well-being of all Americans.” It fulfills this mission by “providing for effective health and human services and fostering advances in medicine, public health, and social services.”

US FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION

An agency within HHS, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)’s mission is to “protect the public health by assuring the safety, efficacy, and security of human and veterinary drugs, biological products, medical devices, our nation’s food supply, cosmetics, and products that emit radiation.”

US Environmental Protection Agency

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s mission is to “protect human health and the environment.” It works to ensure that Americans have clean air, land, and water by developing and enforcing regulations, studying environmental issues, and educating the public about environmental issues.

US Department of Agriculture

The Department of Agriculture (USDA) provides “leadership on food, agriculture, natural resources, rural development, nutrition, and related issues based on public policy, the best available science, and effective management.”

arizona sanitarians’ council

The Arizona Sanitarians’ Council was created to “provide for the classification of sanitarians, establish standards for persons employed as sanitarians, and provide for the examination of applicants for registration as sanitarians” in the State of Arizona.

smoke-free arizona

Passed in November 2006, the Smoke-Free Arizona Act protects Arizonans from the harmful effects of secondhand smoke in “most enclosed public places and places of employment.”
